# Free crochet ghost pattern (easy Halloween amigurumi)

> A mini ghost in one colour, beginner-friendly and quick. The floating skirt is twelve scalloped waves worked into front loops only, and the round after it goes back into the loops they left free, so the ruffle stands away from the body with nothing sewn on.

⚠️ **US notation.** This pattern uses at least one abbreviation that means a different stitch in UK notation (UK "dc" is US "sc"; UK "tr" is US "dc"). Work it as US, or read the UK column in the key below.

## Abbreviations used

| In the pattern | US abbreviation | Stitch name (US) | UK abbreviation | What it is |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| sl | sl st | Slip stitch | ss | |
| sc | sc | Single crochet | dc | |
| hdc | hdc | Half double crochet | htr | |
| inc | inc | Increase | inc | 2 sts in 1 st |
| dec | dec | Decrease | dec2tog | 2 sts worked together |
| bobble | bo | Bobble | bo | bobble stitch, 5 dc worked into the same stitch |
| fasten off | FO | Fasten off | FO | cut & fasten off |

The UK column is the abbreviation a UK-notation reader would use for the SAME stitch. Where it differs from the US one, following the pattern with UK meanings produces the wrong stitch height.

## How the notation reads

- `(sc, inc) x6` — repeat what is in the brackets 6 times — also written 6x (sc, inc)
- `3 hdc in one st` — all three stitches go into the SAME base stitch
- `FLO / BLO` — work into the front / back loop only, leaving the other loop free
